See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Friendly Grade II listed local, handy for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway station just round the corner. The quiet front bar boasts an open fire and window seats and features a collection of fishing flies courtesy of Pickering Fishery Association. Popular with North Yorkshire Moors Railway enthusiasts as well as local clubs such as the fishing association and ferret fanciers. The large multi-level bar at the rear has a pool table and juke box; it hosts a live disco on occasional Friday evenings and can be noisy at the weekend. A display of local artists work is exhibited on the walls. A partially covered smoking/drinking area is to the rear, adjacent to the beer garden. A pub quiz is held on alternate Sunday evenings. Freshly cooked meals are served lunchtimes and early evenings (not Tuesday) either in the front bar or upstairs restaurant (which can be utilised for functions). A carvery on Sunday is also available.
